The International Club of Rio de Janeiro (InC) is a non-profit organization, founded in 1965 by a group of English-speaking women living in Rio de Janeiro. Membership to the InC is open to English-speaking people of all nationalities residing in Rio de Janeiro.  The club is a non-profit organization, registered under Brazilian law, which offers a wide range of activities to all our members from both the expatriate and local communities.

Completing a membership form and handing it in, together with payment, to an Executive Board member at any of our monthly activities or events (membership forms are also available at these events).

Benefits of Membership

General Meetings
An invitation to participate in our monthly General Meetings (usually held on the last Friday of each month at the Sheraton Hotel in Leblon at 10:30 a.m.) which feature different guest speakers/lecturers presenting a variety of topics. The meeting includes a light brunch.  Details of this month’s GM can be found on our events page.

The Echo
A subscription to our monthly newsletter “The Echo” which contains current information of the International Club’s monthly activities as well as featured articles from our contributors and other items of interest in Rio.

Coffee Mornings
An invitation to participate in our two monthly coffee mornings.  Every month one of our members opens his or her home to host a “New Member’s Gathering” (usually on the first Tuesday of the month) which is specifically geared towards newcomers to provide them with useful information about the International Club and its activities as well as about life in Rio in an informal, casual setting. Then, generally on the second Thursday of the month, another member opens his or her home for a “Cafezinho”. Cafezinhos are similarly informal gatherings with the purpose of keeping in touch with other InC members and obtaining updates on the Club’s activities. All these events are in the morning and snacks and light refreshments are provided.  Details of forthcoming coffee mornings can be found on our calendar page.

Activities
An invitation to participate in our various organized activities such as: Bridge, English for non native English speakers, Tennis, Botanical Painting, Fun Cooking Club, Scrapbooking, Quilting, Travel Tips and Portuguese for Foreigners. For the younger set we have; Babies Playgroup (Barra and Zona Sul), the morning Toddler Group and Park dates throughout the year.  You can see a full list of InC activities on our activities page.

InC Online
Unlimited access to our website at www.incrio.org.br where you can login to find up-to-date information about current events and activities, download your copy of the Echo, pay for tickets and much more!

Other Events
Discounted admission to other organized InC events such as our Cultural Tours, Trips, Evening Events and Family Events. The InC offers day tours of various landmarks in Rio, Museum outings, overnight trips both within Brazil and in neighbouring Latin American countries and special evening events such as theme dinners and our annual fund raising gala as well as picnics and outings specifically targeted to families such as our Children’s Christmas Party.  All current InC events are listed in our calendar page. The proceeds of all these events are earmarked for our community development projects so we charge a nominal fee for attendance.

Volunteer Opportunities
By participating in the InC you have the opportunity to volunteer for a number of roles within our community.  The InC is run by you and for you – opportunities exist to volunteer for the InC Executive Board, for our active Charity Committee or for specific event / activity committees which are set up as needed throughout the year.  To volunteer, contact an Executive Board member at any of our monthly activities / events, check our latest news page as we often advertise for a specific role, or e-mail: inquiries@incrio.org.br.

By contributing your ideas you can make living in Rio much more enjoyable for all of us! We look forward to you joining us!
